Say, after playing a note on a piano you want a delay, but you want it to play back an octave higher, then grain delay is great. ![]() The effect can be fairly random, but it's especially useful for weird, abstract sound design, making very glitchy textures, or turning a simple sound source into a lush ambient pad. Each grain can have a different pitch, pan position, sample start position, etc. Glitch, awesomeness: You can "steal" backmask and dumpster fire directly from the developers: Ī granular delay works somewhat like a delay in that it captures and repeats a sound, but the captured audio is cut into small snippets between 1ms to 50ms called grains (the length is determined by the grain size parameter).
